A run to the end of White Fen Drove this morning, in 1 hour 7'21".

The 3 young Swans were at the start of Quy Water and the 2 adults were right at the other end just before Lode Mill.  It looks like they have finally cut the ties ready to start the next brood.  A dead Rat was on the riverbank. A Great Spotted Woodpecker was hear drumming at Anglesey Abbey.

A Kestrel was seen along Fen Road.  A Lapwing was in the field after Lodestar.

Monday 11 April 2011

A run to the end of White Fen Drove this morning. Weather was bright and cool. 7.8 miles in 1 hour 7'23". A dead rat was on the path along Quy Water. A drumming Great-Spotted Woodpecker at Anglesey Abbey woods also a Chiffchaff here. A Grey Wagtail was at Lode Mill. 2 Swallows (first for this year) were seen in Lode. 2 Roe Deer were at the end of White Fen Drove and 2 Reed Buntings. Another pair of Reed Buntings were in the usual spot as well as a Lapwing in the field. A Kestrel was along the Bridleway and a Greenfinch was seen in Station Road.

A late evening run today to the end of White Fen Drove. The weather had cooled down a lot after a very warm day and was very comfortable for running. 7.9 miles run in 1 hr 07'39".

Several House Martins in Station Road Quy and several screaming Swifts in Mill Road, Lode and a few in Station Road on the way back. A Grey Heron along Bottisham Lode and a Kestrel was sitting half way up an electricity pylon along White Fen Drove. Whitethroat and 2 Skylarks between the barley fields. A Brown Rat was seen at the pond in Quy.

The Cranes (captive) along White Fen Drove were quite vocal this evening. There are a number of species one was making an Ow-Wow-Wow call.

A 10 mile run today to the end of White Fen Drove and then across to Oily Hall. The weather was warm and sunny, with just a slight breeze. A quick start with a time of just 16 minutes to Lode Mill. Overall a good time of 1 hour 28'46".

A Kingfisher was seen along Fen Road Lode both on the way out and coming back. Kestrel in Station Road, Quy and another in Fen Road, Lode. 2 Skylarks in the field leading to Oily Hall. A Green Woodpecker was seen on the way back just after Lode Mill. A Hare was in the field at the end of the old railway line and where this joins the bridleway there was a Brown Rat.

A lot of decent-sized fish seen in Bottisham Lode and at Lode Mill.
